MR3467 Mount Everest ::
The summit of summits, pinnacle of the Roof of the World, known to the West as Mount Everest. Those who live close to it have for centuries called it Sagarmatha (‘the ocean’s brow’) in Nepalese, or Jomolangma (‘goddess of the glaciers’) in Tibetan, and know it as the palace of the Five Sisters of Long Life. It rises to 8,848 metres (29,021 feet) above sea-level in the middle of the Himalayan range, which is 2,400 kilometres long. The photo was taken from the cockpit of a Druk Air plane. This Bhutanese airline flies between Paro and Kathmandu, the only high-altitude flight immediately south of Everest. Lhotse on the right October 25, 2012
