At the end of a long ceremony at Shechen Monastery in Nepal, monks perform an offering of butter lamps. Each one holds a lighted lamp and is linked to his neighbors with white scarves knotted together and held by the whole assembly. They recite melodious verses of prayers that they may practice their faith together all their lives until they attain enlightenment. 1987.
